What is Veterinary Bedding?

Veterinary Bedding and Vet Bed are general terms for all similar veterinary bedding.

Vetbed© is a registered trade mark of Petlife International Limited only.

It is a unique bedding manufactured from two types of specially developed polyester - making it chemically different from all other similar beds on the market.

The top layer is approximately 1¼” (3cm) high and initially has a soft fluffy appearance. After washing it looks slightly tufted.

The base layer is either made from double strength polyester yarn, which enables air and liquids to pass through, or from a rubber mix to help the bed from slipping. The fibres are knitted to the double layer backing at a high density for extra toughness, comfort and warmth.

Why is Veterinary Bedding so good?

Vet Bed is probably the safest and most effective fabric ever developed for use in the veterinary profession because it is hygienic, non-irritant and non-allergic. Vet Bed keeps pets warm and dry, retains body heat and reduces the risk of hypothermia. It even keeps your pet warm when used on concrete floors. Its special drainage and heat retaining qualities also make Vet Bed ideal for older dogs or those needing post operative care. They stay warm and dry despite any ‘accidents’. Independent tests have conclusively proven that in spite of its luxurious feel it has tremendous strength and durability. In normal domestic use Vet Bed will last for many years. Vetbed can be machine washed time after time.

What is Permafresh Fibre?

Some veterinary bedding, like Petlife's Vetbed Gold, has integrated Permafresh fibres. Permafresh is a safe, non toxic integral agent that provides 100% effective control of bacteria, mould, mildew and fungi - all of which cause smells and odours.

Dead skin from your pet is prevented from decaying and this results in the common dust mite being starved to death.

Pet beds with integrated Permafresh fibres are a huge benefit to animals that are allergic to the house dust mite or suffer from general sensitivily that leads to skin allergies.
