This mat does not ruck up, so your pet always has a comfortable bed when he is in his crate. How many times do you see other bedding screwed into a ball at one end of the crate and your poor pet laying on cold hard plastic or wire at the other end?

The Outer Cover

The fabric is a heavy-duty waterproof gunbag fabric that is very hard wearing. It is a practical dark brown colour, so it does not show the dirt and hairs do not stick to it easily.

Fastening

The mat has a Velcro fastening along the short side. We fix the Velcro so it creates a flat edge along the short side of the mat. The Velcro is not taken into account when the mat is measured.

If you prefer, we can make the mat so the Velcro turns in on itself. This means that no stitching shows on the outside of the mat. The Velcro is slightly more difficult to close using this method but some customers prefer it. If you would liek this option please add the 'Turned In Velcro' option above to your shopping basket.

Cleaning

The tough cover is easy to keep clean. You just allow any dirt to dry and then vacuum it off or you can wipe it over with a sponge or damp cloth. You can even pop it in the washing machine at 30 degrees provided you use a proper waterproof fabric cleaner.

The Filling

The foam filling is 2.5cm (1") thick top grade upholstery foam. 1" may not sound very thick but the foam we use is very dense and gives excellent support. It is also entirely fire retardant and creates a good insulated base for your pet's crate.

Blue upholstery foam of this density and quality is an ideal filling as it keeps it shape and does not go flat for years under normal use. It is rare to see such a good quality filling used in a crate mat.

If you have a particularly heavy or large dog, we can also supply these mats with a 2" foam filling. Our 2" mats will be loaded onto our site shortly. 1" foam is perfectly adequate for most dogs .

Comment

These crate mats look really smart and fit beautifully in the bottom of most crates, creating a nice springy base mat that stays in place and does not go flat or lumpy.

They do not take up a lot of room, as they are not bulky, yet they give your dog far more consistent support than he would receive from most other mats. They can be used on their own, with one of our blankets or with Vet Bed on top.

You can also buy a separate machine washable over cover, making it even easier for you to keep the mat clean and hygienic at all times.

Because crates come in so many sizes, we just advertise 8 main sizes, but as we make these mats to order, we can make almost any size by special order - usually at little extra cost. Just give us a ring or email customer services and we will be pleased to give you a price for your required mat.

Can we ask that you do not shut your pet in his crate for longer than is absolutely necessary and that you make sure he has plenty of exercise when he is out of his crate? We believe dogs should have as much freedom as possible and should only be restricted to their crates for their own protection and safety.
